I grew up St. Paul Minnesota, always drawing and doodling in the margins and centers of paper. I began bending clay at Bemidji State University in 1996. I was lucky to be a student there during a golden age of art education. Great faculty and energetic classmates. Before I wandered into the clay studio I was pursuing a degree/career in animation. I wanted to make movies. Well that never happened, I took a detour thru the clay shop. And now I'm still trying to make movies I suppose, only with clay. I think a lot of people have similar experiences with discovering clay. You kind of just stumnle upon it. After leaving Bemidji in 1998 I spent the next 16 years in the Twin Cities making pots in various studios, and forging relationships within the local clay community. Currently my family live north of Minneapolis /St. Paul about 45 miles, in Shafer, MInnesota.
