My introduction to clay is more a coincidence of circumstance than an intentional choice. My continued involvement in clay is driven by an addiction to the challenge of negotiating aesthetic elements, instinct and sturdiness in making  interesting functional pottery.

I earned a B.F.A. from Bemidji State University in 1998. Bemidji is located in northern Minnesota. Bemidji is surrounded by crisp sun bleached summer lakes in the summer and rolling seas of snow drifts in the winter. This environment combined with  strong and perennial professors made a fruitful place for trying lots of ideas and techniques.

Since 2000 I  have maintained a studio in Lowertown St. Paul, where I continue to make pots, experiment, and learn from my regional arts community. Minnesota has a thick, dense, woven history of pottery  and the groundwork has been laid by all our predecessors which I am very thankful for. I believe in the Midwestern tradition and the esthetic evolving from it.

Currently I can  be found teaching at the Northern Clay Center, The Eagan Art House. My work is always evolving while my focus always remains on making balanced pottery.
